ITMO - the NETHERLANDS: Urban supercomputing


Objective of the Programme: The problems in distributed storage, transfer and processing of big amount of data are on the frontiers of modern branch of IT. High performance computing and distributed data processing, special hardware architectures and telecommunications, domain specific languages and host of other things are required to solve these problems. The graduate will be in demand at the international job market, since big data is spread in all areas of life.

The program is focused: for applicants with an applicable bachelor's degree, fluent in English and planning a future career in high-tech international companies, both in Russia and abroad.
Results:

Usage of computer simulation of urban processes is very popular in scientific and business communities right now. This simulation may cover transport and commodity flows, virtual society activities, the internet of things, urban emergencies and disasters, crowd behavior and so on. Design of decision support systems, analysis of society’s behavior, economic progress simulation, trend and common factors revelation, solving optimization problems, spatial analysis cover only small part of skills and competences of the graduates.


Teaching staff: ITMO professors and associate professors and professors of foreign partner universities.
Length of program: 2 years (4 semesters) including 1 semester at the partner University (University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands)

Admission requirements

 

Admission requirements:Bachelor's degree in the field of computational science or equivalent, with excellent/good grades. CV & motivation letter.

English language proficiency: TOEFL (iBT) - 90, IELTS - 6.5, Cambridge CAE - A or B(4)

Admission tests

Basic knowledge of mathematical analysis, numerical methods and programming technologies.
