Metamaterials

Objective of the Programme: The Metamaterials master's program does not only give deep knowledge in fundamental physics, but also provides hands-on experience in laboratory work, technology, and numerical simulation methods that are essential for industry or academy career.
Syllabus:

Courses. The study program covers all fundamentals of electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, and solid-state physics. Wide range of special courses taught by research center staff includes up-to-date courses in nanophotonics, quantum optics, numerical methods, radiophysics and others. The program involves intensive laboratory studies using facilities of the center: optical instrumentation, radiofrequency measurements, and nanotechnology fabrication methods.

Scientific work. From the very beginning students are actively involved in the scientific work of the research center. Students are treated not as passive listeners but as equal members of the research teams. Such approach provides for fast and effective professional growth.

Language: English
The program is focused: on applicants with an applicable bachelor's degree, fluent in English and planning a future career in high-tech international companies, both in Russia and abroad.
Main advantages:

Metamaterials are new materials that will revolutionize telecommunication, radiotechnology, and power industry. The physics of metamaterials combines optics and nanophotonics, radiophysics and solid-state physics. The master program is administered by the Center of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials of the ITMO University, one of the leading research centers in the field.

Career Perspective

Our graduates successfully enter PhD programs in universities all over the world in the field of physics and engineering. The Center of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials has industrial partners both in Russia and worldwide (i.e. Bosch and Samsung)

Scholarships

Several scholarships covering the tuition expenses are available for the best candidates. The scholarship nominates will be chosen at the stage of application procedure based on the CV evaluation.
