Marianna Chistyakova

Biography

Marianna Chistyakova is the head of the Strategic Development Department (established in 2019) and the deputy head of the council of ITMO’s development strategies.

She graduated with honors from the Faculty of Sociology and Philosophy of Udmurt State University. In 2002-2003, she founded and acted as the editor-in-chief of a student newspaper ranked second in the university’s competition. From 1998 to 2003, she worked as a sociologist and was promoted from an interviewer to a leader of sociological, marketing, and electoral studies. 

In 2003, Marianna Chistyakova enrolled into St. Petersburg State University to study sociology and received her PhD in 2006. 

Starting from 2002, she has been regularly taking advanced training courses, including ones in integrated marketing communications (Udmurt State University); modern sociology: research and educational strategies (St. Petersburg State University); modern sociological approaches and theories (St. Petersburg State University); project management with Microsoft Project (Softline); innovative technologies in education (the University of Twente, the Netherlands); project management (PMI); increasing the competitiveness of universities (MIT, the US), and many others. 

Marianna Chistyakova is a two-time winner of the contest for PhD students and young scientists organized by St. Petersburg State University’s Faculty of Sociology (2004 and 2005) and a winner of the grant for students by the Government of St. Petersburg (2005).

From 2004 to 2006, Marianna Chistyakova worked as lecturer at the Faculty of Sociology of St. Petersburg State University and the Faculty of State and Public Administration of the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg (the management of social and economic processes and management). 

In 2004-2006, she occupied the position of an engineer at the Faculty of Sociology of St. Petersburg State University and in 2008, – a senior researcher at the university’s Resource Center for Sociological and Internet Research.

Between 2006 and 2008, Marianna Chistyakova was appointed a chief specialist at the university’s department of project management and a manager of the Council of the innovative Educational Programs of St. Petersburg State University.

In 2008, Marianna Chistyakova joined ITMO University first as the head of the Department of International Projects and Programs (2008-2010).She later occupied the positions of the head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Development (2010-2013), the head of the Strategic Development Office (2013-2019), and the head of the Strategic Development Department (2019-present). From 2009 and 2011, she was the head of the organizational department of the university’s development program and starting from 2014, she has been the deputy head of the Council of ITMO’s development strategies. 

Marianna Chistyakova is an author, a developer, and a co-executor of numerous projects and programs in higher educational and social activities, including Innovative Education project of St. Petersburg State University (as part of the priority national project Education); Integration of Science, Education, and Business: Transformation Vectors (Russian Humanitarian Scientific Foundation); The University of the Third Age, Establishment and Development of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ITMO University's Development Program, and others.
