Program description
The master’s program in information security focuses on training top-quality professionals in the area of information security. The program offers seven specializations, with Computer Systems Information Security being taught entirely in English.
The program covers a set of problems related to ensuring the information security of computer systems, cyber-physical systems, etc., and is meant to advance students’ knowledge in computer science and a range of cybersecurity technologies. The program trains professionals to take on cyber- and information security leadership roles in IT companies, government agencies, and scientific organizations.
The curriculum includes the following subjects: computer security management and risk management, cybersecurity threat assessment and vulnerabilities identification (web, networks, operating systems), cloud computing and IoT security, cryptography, and research. It produces highly-skilled and sought-after professionals. During the research, students acquire leadership and research skills that help them become open-minded specialists and real inventors.
The program aims to develop learning outcomes related to real-world tasks and to provide skills for the analysis, design, and development of secure and safe computer systems and cybersecurity systems.
The master’s degree includes a set of core courses that provide the necessary skills in cybersecurity: information security laws and regulations, risk management, operating systems, web software development (and web-security), database security, cryptography, cloud computing technologies and security, computer networks and security, machine learning in cybersecurity and mobile systems security (IoT security).
Graduates of the program are ready to start a wide range of IT careers, such as information security auditors and defense analysts, managers at IT companies, or the government sector. During the study of soft skills, key professional and research skills are developed, helping graduates to start their own projects or continue to study for their DSc.

Can I enrol in the program if I don't speak Russian?
Yes, the track Computer Systems Information Security is fully in English.
Can I work while studying at the university?
International students are allowed to be employed both by the university and external companies and organizations. If a student would like to work outside the university, they will need to submit a letter of enrollment confirmation issued by the university’s Student Services Office to their prospective employer.
How many hours a week are international students allowed to work?
There is no limit to working hours for students. However, it is hardly possible to work full-time as students must attend classes.
