Biography

Mikhail Kurushkin was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1990. 

In 2007, he finished Gymnasium No. 61 with an in-depth study of English in St. Petersburg. 

In 2012, he received an engineering degree in nanomaterials at Peter the Great Polytechnic University. The same year, he entered a PhD program at the university and received his PhD in inorganic chemistry in 2016.

He started to work as an associate professor at his alma mater in the fall of 2017. In 2017, he was also awarded the title of International Engineering Educator ING.PAED.IGIP.

He became an associate professor at ITMO on February 6, 2018; and then an associate professor (qualification “full associate professor”) from September 1, 2018.

Between 2018 and 2019, Mikhail Kurushkin initiated and organized the prestigious international conference on the periodic table Mendeleev 150 in collaboration with his students. 

Since August 25, 2020, Mikhail Kurushkin has been the dean of ITMO’s Faculty of Biotechnologies.
