The Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems focuses on training specialists in computer systems and cutting-edge programming technologies who will meet the demands of computer and software industries within the next 10 to 20 years. We are training experts for the coming post-information age, or an era of VR, cyberphysical systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Here, at the faculty, we:

  • know firsthand and teach our students how to design computers. The faculty is home to the oldest research and engineering school of computer design. All of the faculty’s staff are practicing scientists, engineers, and leaders in computer technologies;

  • teach systems programming technologies, as no application or information service can exist without a reliable operating system, a computational network, a computer cluster or a cloud-based software platform;

  • teach programming and develop new programming technologies. At the core of the faculty’s research is software engineering – a promising field of study associated with industrial development and maintenance of software systems within a unified formalized system of methodology and technology;

  • train specialists in the field of programming graphic applications, 3D graphics and animation, design, usability, web development, computer interface design and engineering graphics;

  • focus on cutting-edge methods in human-computer interaction. The upcoming human-cyber-physical age calls for a whole new level of integration of biological and computer intelligence;

  • implement interdisciplinary training of students in the methods of information processing and programming technologies;

  • delve into the nuances of realistic computer-generated images, holograms, and AR systems. The worldclass knowledge and experience are delivered by the specialists of the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics.

Our graduates:

  • learn to develop and design computational systems, from microprocessors to personal computers and smartphones, from the Internet of Things setups to robot control systems, from computer clusters to data processing centers;

  • acquire knowledge and skills in programming information systems of the future: cloud computing, AI based on ontologies and databases, data search and processing systems (data mining and big data), and the Internet of Things;

  • learn to apply information and multimedia technologies in multiple artistic fields, including theater, cinema and TV, as well as research and applied activities in mass media, advertising, business communications, and media industry;

  • become programmers of the future who can apply the latest neurotechnologies to develop applications in machine learning, AI systems, and processing of unsystematized data;

  • acquire viable education and can quickly adapt to changes and upgrade their skills;

  • are highly sought after by leading Russian and international companies and enterprises, which include but are not limited to Russian Railways, Yandex, Promt, Luxoft, Gazprom Neft, Sberbank, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, AMD, Deutsche Bank, and many others.
