Pavel Kustarev

Biography

Pavel Kustarev, PhD, is the dean of and an associate professor at the Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems; the deputy head of the Science and Technology Council “Automated Control, Robotics, Electric Drive;” an employee at the International Laboratory “Architecture and Design Methods of Embedded Systems and Systems-on-Chip;” and a member of ITMO’s Academic Council.

Education

Pavel Kustarev was born in 1971 in Leningrad. After he finished school in 1989, he studied computing machines, complexes, systems, and networks from 1989 to 1995 at Leningrad Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics (now ITMO University). In 1995-1998, he completed a PhD program and received his PhD in engineering in 1999. 

Career

Since 1998, Pavel Kustarev has been an assistant and then an associate professor at ITMO’s Department of Computation Technologies. Over the years, he developed and taught more than 10 courses in computing systems, systems-on-chip, and computing networks and supervised Specialist’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students.

Research

Pavel Kustarev participated in several R&D projects (as part of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s programs and contract works) on the methods of architectural and functional design of embedded systems, as well as several dozens of practical projects on the development and production of embedded systems for various purposes, including as a project head. Pavel Kustarev specializes in electronics and systems engineering of embedded systems.
