I worked in Denmark, the UK and Portugal. I learned about ITMO’s Fellowship program from my colleagues. This program gives researchers an opportunity to work on various projects in St. Petersburg. One of the fields was especially interesting to me.
I worked in France, the UK, and Brazil as a professor, then emigrated to Iceland. But I’ve always wanted to come back to St. Petersburg. That’s why I decided to join such a reputable university as ITMO. Here I can focus on my field of interest – condensed-matter physics and solid-state optics.
ITMO University helps international students with documents and makes them feel comfortable in a new country. Here I acquire all the skills and knowledge I wanted. I focused on mechanics and sometimes translated articles from Russian.
I’ve been in St.Petersburg several times. My field of interest lies in semiconducting nano-materials. It’s a very popular field in global science yet it’s not well-studied in Russia. That’s why I’d like to change it.
I enjoy working at ITMO. My colleagues and I are about the same age, that is why it’s easy for me to communicate with them. The researchers are always on hand to help. Even if it’s not related to their field, they will draw analogies to understand and solve the problems.
