Bjarne Stroustrup is a Danish-born computer scientist and the College of Engineering Chair Professor of Computer Science at Texas A&M University. He is most notable for developing the C++ programming language. After graduating from Aarhus University, Denmark, and University of Cambridge, Dr. Stroustrup was the head of AT&T Lab's Large-scale Programming Research department, from its creation until late 2002. He’s a member of the National Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the ACM (1994) and an IEEE Fellow. He’s currently a professor at Texas A&M University where he holds the College of Engineering Chair in Computer Science. His awards include - ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award, IEEE Computer Society 2004 Computer Entrepreneur Award, and William Procter Prize for Scientific Achievement.
