The Artificial Intelligence Technologies Faculty is part of ITMO’s School of Translational Information Technologies. Its mission is to train highly-qualified specialists in the field of artificial intelligence.
The faculty’s educational activities are carried out in close collaboration with ITMO’s two major AI research centers headed by Prof. Alexander Boukhanovsky, DSc in engineering:
-
Competence Center of the National Technological Initiative in machine learning and cognitive technologies – National Center for Cognitive Research.
The faculty currently has over 40 employees, most of them, including all PIs (principal investigators – heads of research groups), are PhD or DSc holders and researchers at the Research Center “Strong AI in Industry” and the National Center for Cognitive Research. This approach allows the faculty to share with their students not only the latest knowledge in their fields of study but also their unique experience. As they enter the faculty’s programs, students gain both theoretical knowledge and academic practice, as well as hands-on experience in working on genuine projects by the research centers that are being developed for the benefit of the faculty’s corporate and industrial partners.
Bachelor’s programs:
-
AI Engineering (02.03.03 Mathematical Support and Administration of Information Systems and 11.03.02. Infocommunication Technologies and Communication Systems)
Master's programs:
-
Big Data and Machine Learning (01.04.02 Applied Mathematics and Computer Science)
-
AI in the Industry (09.04.02 Information Systems and Technologies)

Additionally, the faculty offers a range of PhD programs in the following subject areas:
-
1.2. Computer Science and Informatics
-
1.2.1. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
-
1.2.2. Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Methods and Program Systems
