Career options 

Graduates of the program are trained to solve fundamental and applied navigation and control problems, which arise due to the creation of qualitatively new navigation sensors, as well as develop related information, navigation and control systems. Thus, they can work as engineers and researchers at companies operating in a navigation-related area.

The program comprises several study tracks (specializations), including the Surface Vessel Control track conducted entirely in English. This track is focused on the synthesis of algorithms for traffic control and navigation for surface vessels. The program curriculum includes courses delivered by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Program description

The program aims to train competent, creative engineers and researchers in the field of modern navigation technologies and control systems for various vehicles. Designing modern navigation and control systems implies the possession of skills and knowledge in the fields of control theory, computational methods for the development of devices and systems, information processing algorithms, applied programming, design, and simulation.

The program includes both general engineering disciplines that contribute to the development of skills in the design, construction and development of technical and cyber-physical systems, as well as special courses. Special disciplines are devoted to the study of control and navigation systems for objects of various types such as surface, underwater, ground, underground, and space.

The program follows a practice-oriented approach and combines traditional teaching methods with scientific research. Students undergo practical training and write their theses upon the tasks of our corporate partner – CSRI Elektropribor. The content of disciplines is also highly correlated with the most modern and demanded problems.

The great scientific potential of teachers and close ties with both the corporate partner and leading Russian and international institutes allow students to participate in the development of the latest control and navigation systems, conduct active scientific and research activities, and take part in various conferences and seminars.
